Schedule and Speaker Information We have a very full schedule this year with lots of interesting speakers and educational sessions, but still, plenty of time to catch up with industry partners and colleagues. You can also find more information on the speakers and presentations HERE. Watch for updates. | Lodging A room block has been reserved at the Lodge at Deadwood at a rate of $89 + taxes and fees. Rooms are currently available from Monday, January 8th through Friday, January 12th. Individuals can reserve a King or Queen room by calling the hotel at 877-393-5634 and asking for the South Dakota Society of Professional Land Surveyors' block. Reservations must be made prior to the cut-off date of December 7th or will be subject to availability. If you are outside the DOT and need State rates, please contact Nancy at the SDSPLS office. | Exhibit & Sponsor As an Exhibitor or Sponsor, the SDSPLS Convention is THE annual event for you to showcase your company and survey related items. In addition to interacting with attendees, you also have a number of ways to show your support of SDSPLS and/or the SDSPLS Scholarship Program by donating auction items and door prizes, sponsoring a meal or break, or one of the many other ways outlined on the Exhibit & Sponsorship page found HERE. | Spouse Activities The Convention Committee is currently gathering up some fun and interesting activities for spouses to enjoy while we're hard at work earning our continuing education. Options currently include wine and/or whiskey tastings, a spa day, historical tours, and the like. If your spouse is joining you at the Convention and may be interested in the spouse activities, please indicate so on your registration. |
Survey Photo Contest Enter the Annual SDSPLS Survey Photo Contest! The Top 3 photos will win a prize! Email a high-resolution digital file of your photo with your name and a brief description of the photo or project to DirectorSDSPLS@hotmail.com by December 15th (or let us know that you will be bringing a print to the Convention). Remember, SDSPLS reserves the right to post the photos on the SDSPLS website or in Backsights & Foresights, with appropriate credit. | Award Nominations SDSPLS has a long history of honoring those who represent the profession well and those who have made exemplary contributions to the profession. We encourage you to review the Outstanding Contribution to the Land Surveying Profession and the Surveyor of the Year award categories and their criteria to help you in identifying a nominee for each. Nominations are due by 5pm Central Time on December 15th. | Scholarship Auction Through the generosity of our Members, Firms, Sponsors, and Exhibitors, SDSPLS has been able to maintain a robust Scholarship Program for many years. Whether you are able to attend the Convention or not, we encourage everyone to consider making a donation to either the live or silent scholarship auction. Please indicate your willingness to donate on your registration form and we will reach out to learn more about the item being donated. LSIT Training LSIT Training sessions will be offered Friday morning, January 12th, and will run concurrently with the general sessions. If you plan on attending the LSIT Training, please indicate so on your registration form. | SD Geospatial User Group The 10th Annual South Dakota Geospatial User Group will once again meet on Tuesday, January 9th, at the Lodge.
